Lara McSpadden returns for the Cyclones

The CQ University Rockhampton Cyclones have secured their first signing and what a big one it is. Lara McSpadden will be returning to Rockhampton for her 3rd season and will be looking to help drive the Cyclones back to the playoffs in 2023.

Lara has been a huge part of the Cyclones last two seasons and 2023 will be no different with the Townsville Fire centre looking to make her presence felt again this season for the Cyclones.

Coach Drew Fenton said, “we are extremely excited to have Lara back for 2023. She is one of the premier bigs in the League. Players who average 16 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game are very hard to find. Lara is a much loved part of the community and crowd favourite here in Rocky and I know the fans can’t wait to see her on the floor with the Cyclones again this year. In speaking to Lara in the off season, she is primed for a big season & cant wait to back on the floor at Bravus Arena.”

Lara was again excited to be returning to the program and said, “I’m extremely excited to be returning to Rocky for the 2023 NBL1 season. I can’t wait to build on our progress from last year’s season with regards to culture and assert ourselves in the competition as a finals team.

Lara will arrive in Rockhampton following her WNBL commitments with the Townsville Fire who are currently sitting in 4th position on the WNBL ladder.
