The CQ University Rockhampton Cyclones have secured Sara Storeshaw and Heidi Freeburn for the 2022 NBL1 North Coles Express season.
The signing will add great strength to the Cyclones backcourt in 2022.
Both Freeburn and Storeshaw played in the NBL1 for Mackay in 2021 and were a huge part of the finals run they made, being knocked out by southern districts in the semi-final.
Freeburn will add much needed experience to the Cyclones group and is proven in the guard position over several years in the league.
Storeshaw is a promising point guard that has huge upside and looking to take her game to the next level, and the club is extremely excited about what both players can bring in 2022.
Head coach Drew Fenton said on the signings, “Both players are extremely excited about joining the Cyclones and are keen to link up with their new teammates and get to work in preparation for the 2022 season.”
“It will be wonderful to be a part of such a passionate basketball association with such a great history, I can’t wait to join my teammates and play in front of the cyclones wonderful supporters,” Freeburn said.
Storeshaw said, “I am really looking forward to playing for Rocky and can’t wait to work on my game and keep improving and believe I have a great opportunity to do that with head coach Drew Fenton in Rockhampton. The fans are passionate, and we can’t wait to be a part of that atmosphere on game nights.”
Both Freeburn and Storeshaw will arrive in Rockhampton on late February in preparation for the 2022 NBL1 Coles Express season.
